Stylistically, it aligns with the atmospheric horror championed by the most popular J-horror movies (*cough* The Ring *cough*), while also containing signature elements of its director, Takashi Miike (best known for Ichi the Killer and Audition). One Missed Call is a very traditional J-horror in regard to the time of its release, in 2003.
